What is a PPL?

A PPL is a “Private Pilot Licence”. The holder of a PPL is a fully fledged pilot in every sense of the word. You may fly with friends, family or associates, not at night and with no remuneration. The training entails a minimum of 45 hours training.

What is a Night Rating?

This is an additional course done after your PPL, which enables you to fly at night. While conducting night training, you will learn the basics of instrument flying and the dangers associated with night flying. Night rating is a additional 10 hours of training.

What is a CPL?

A CPL is a “Commercial Pilot License“ and entitles the holder of such license to make flying his or her career. Understandably this requires more training, a minimum of 200 hours (Night Rating Required). This license enables your to fly for remuneration.

How long will my training take?

PPL full time - approximately 8 to 12 weeks
PPL part time - approximately 3 to 4 months
Night Rating - approximately 2 to 3 weeks
Commercial full time - approximately 15 to 18 months
Commercial part time - approximately 24 to 30 months 

What is a IF rating?

Instrument flying “IF” is a rating for a special purpose, which enables you to fly with reference solely to the instruments in the cockpit. This is normally used for navigation through adverse weather know as instrument meteorological condition (IMC).

Are there bursaries available at Professional Flight Centre?

Unfortunately Professional Flight Centre does not offer any financial aid towards your training. We however assist our students with the necessary documentation required to apply for a study load at your local bank.
