Instruments Rating

The Instrument Rating is the most significant part of the CPL training (Commercial Pilot License). In IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) with low visibility, the Pilot is trained to fly the aircraft solely by instruments, as well as how to safely and effectively complete complex approach procedures as published for appropriate airports.

The Instrument Rating can be applied to either a single engine or a multi engine aircraft; the choice is up to the student, though the Multi Engine option is favored because it includes Single Engine privileges but not multi engine privilege's. Because the majority of the aircraft operated would be of this type, it would be in the students best interest to invest in a multi engine instrument rating.

The instrument rating involves 40 hours of instrument flying training, 10 of which must be completed during the Night Rating. This course will help you become a more alert and safer pilot by training you how the aircraft instruments work in greater detail. It is also required for the completion of your ATPL. The instrument rating will be done using a combination of simulator and actual aircraft flight training to ensure that all areas of the instrument rating are covered thoroughly and that you graduate as a safe, highly capable, and professional pilot.
